Brushes, Baking and Badgers!
The Medicine Garden was the place to be for the Early May Bank Holiday, what a great day! The Badgers arrived at the Cobham walled gardens just after 9am to set up and soundcheck and had our setup complete just in time for the musical entertainment began with the fantastic Miscela Quartet, who performed a lovely collection of favourite classical pieces from 11am.
The Badgers three took the opportunity to see what was going on around the site. On one side of the centre path was the main marquee which held cooking demonstrations throughout the day. It also housed some of the framed artwork on display. Arcing back towards the main gate from the marquee were other art stalls ranging from glass block painting to new sculptures and more. On the other side of the centre path was the food court where a city of gazebos were the home for sweets, cakes, a BBQ, fresh popcorn and, a Badger favourite, Chipstix - which must be the most creative serving of potatoes around.
Medicine Garden Arts & Food Festival 2013
The Badgers took to the stage at 1pm in bright the summer sunshine and filled their 90 minute slot with a mix of music from fifties rock 'n' roll to chart toppers of today. There really was something for everyone as demonstrated by all the youngsters burning off the BBQ calories by dancing all over the place!
When the Badgers made it to the end of their time there were still a number of songs left in the bag, but we had enjoyed every minute of it and judging by all the compliments and comments after it seems like all at The Medicine Garden liked us too.
The schedule continued in the marquee with further cooking demonstrations but it wasn't long before the garden was filled with music once again, this time from Harriet Starling and The Good Honeys; a fabulous retro bluegrass and swamp blues band. They lapped up the afternoon sun and everyone there loved the relaxed vibe the group bring. Definite Medicine Garden favourites.
At the end of the event The Badgers packed up their PA, which had been shared with the other musical groups, and loaded the gear into their cars after a long, hot and brilliant day. The Medicine Garden's second Arts & Food Festival was a great day out and blessed with fantastic weather which can so often be a killer of Bank Holidays. It was a pleasure and a treat to have been part of the festivities and we hope that Badgers... Lots Of Them will be back at The Medicine Garden again.
